A medicine man on the last show boat on the Mississippi is mistaken by two gangsters as a bootlegger, and has to evade them.
At 35:14, The Shattucks, Ward Shattuck and Ethel Shattuck,
perform a
talking comedy juggling act
on stage for 3 minutes 20 seconds.
After being introduced as Doakes and Doakes,
they enter the stage from opposite sides, each juggling 3 large hoops,
and then pass the 6 hoops between them. They then switch to 3 clubs,
performing steals, and then passing the 3 clubs, with tricks and jokes.
In particular, Ethel makes several incredibly hard throws of their wooden
clubs to Ward. They finish with Ethel quickly throwing 11 hoops to Ward.
