Powder River (1953)

[Rory Calhoun, Corinne Calvet, Cameron Mitchell, Penny Edwards]

Ex-marshall Chino Bull has hung up his guns until his prospecting partner is shot dead. Chino then takes over as the law in town, forming a friendship with gun-man Mitch Hardin and making enemies of the Logan brothers. When Hardin's girl from the east arrives, he makes her pretty unwelcome - as does his new flame, saloon owner Frenchie.

At 53:55, Juggler Val Setz performs as The Great Balso at the opening of the new Palace Saloon. He juggles 4 plates well in multiple patterns, but when he drops, he quips, "I haven't always been this good." The audience just stares quietly. Someone asks the owner, "How much you paying this guy?" The owner answers, "Nothin'." His friend replies, "Too much." Balso then kicks up 4 coins, one at a time, to his mouth, forehead, and each eye, but fumbles a bit. The audience again just stares silently. Balso then says, "I thank you," for the expected applause that was not received. He then juggles a top hat and cane, but when he tries to leave prematurely, the owner yells with gun in hand, "Get back here! You're not much, but you're all we've got."
